US Copyright Office Celebrates 150 Years of Creativity
On July 8, 1870, Congress centralized the administration of copyright law in the Library of Congress. Since its debut, the Office has driven the evolution of copyright law and been a key player in development of copyright law, from the Copyright Act of 1909 to the Copyright Act of 1976 to the Music Modernization Act of 2018.The Office also provides critical services, helping copyright owners protect their works and preserving a public record of the country’s creativity.
