FAMILY LAW

EXPERIENCED, EMPATHETIC FAMILY LAW ATTORNEYS

An experienced family law attorney understands that cases involving divorce, child custody, and child and spousal support create tremendous stress for everyone involved. If you are considering divorce, or your spouse has filed and you must respond, working with a family attorney who will take the time to understand your goals and guide you through the process can relieve much of that stress.

The family law attorneys at ADLI have experience representing clients in Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena, San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, as well as all southern California counties.  We understand that often a divorce or child custody case is the first time a party has ever had any dealings in court.  That is why we take the time to explain the process, talk to our clients to understand their goals and provide advice on what to expect based on 25 years of experience in this field. ADLI understands that these types of cases affect the clients’ daily lives and family dynamics, and as such, we work with our clients to achieve the best results possible.

Divorce (marital dissolution)

All divorce cases have to be filed in court.  That does not mean that the court must decide everything for you.  ADLI’s team of Los Angeles divorce attorneys can help you with all aspects of the divorce process, including negotiating settlement or advocating for your interests in court. The firm’s divorce attorneys handle uncontested divorce and stipulated judgments, as well as contested divorce, with complex issues of division of assets and debts, including business and property valuations and divisions, retirement funds, stock options, and deferred compensation. You can be assured that our family law attorneys will work efficiently and effectively for your best interest.

Paternity

Paternity cases are filed when there is no marriage, but the parties have minor children together.  These cases only involve the issues of child custody and support.  ADLI’s family attorneys understand that the parent-child relationship is special and worth nurturing and protecting even if the parents aren’t together.  We will advocate for you to obtain custody orders that are in your child’s best interest.  Our family attorneys also have extensive experience in navigating the requirements of the California Guideline Child Support calculations and will make sure the calculations are accurate even if there are issues of self-employment income, hidden income, commissions or fluctuating income.  You can trust ADLI’s attorneys to be provide you zealous representation.

Child Custody

ADLI will make certain that your child’s best interests are kept in the foreground at all times and help with issues such as determining legal and physical custody, timeshare schedules, visitation, and move-away requests.  It is our firm belief that parents, who know their children the best, should make decisions regarding child custody rather than the courts who can only dedicate limited time to hear your case and make decisions for your family that will affect your daily lives.  That is why we work diligently to achieve an agreement on custody whenever possible.  If it becomes necessary to have the court decide your child custody case, our family law attorneys have the experience to advise you on how to present the child custody issues to the court to get favorable custody orders.

Child Support

It’s no secret that raising children is expensive.  California law gives priority to child support and requires the non-custodial parent to pay Guideline Child Support. ADLI’s family law attorneys have extensive experience in navigating the requirements of the California Guideline Child Support calculations and will make sure the calculations are accurate even if there are issues of self-employment income, hidden income, commissions, or fluctuating income.  You can trust our experienced family law attorneys to provide you zealous representation.

Spousal Support (alimony)

ADLI’s experienced family law attorneys will diligently work to obtain fair temporary and permanent spousal support orders by conducting a proper investigation into the income of each party, including self-employed parties who own a business, work on commission or have a fluctuating income.

Domestic Violence Restraining Orders

If you are the victim of domestic violence or you have been wrongfully accused of domestic violence, ADLI’s dedicated family law attorneys will work tirelessly to advocate for the truth and protect victims or those who are falsely accused.

Legal Separation

For parties who don’t want to be divorced, but want orders on child custody, child and spousal support, and division of assets and debts, ADLI’s family law attorneys will work efficiently and effectively to resolve all issues and obtain a judgment for legal separation whether by settlement or trial.

Division of community assets and debts

California is a “no-fault” divorce state.  That means that regardless of the reasons for your divorce, there will have to be a determination of the division of community property.  This also includes a determination of the character of an asset or debt as separate property (belongs to one party) or community property (belongs to both parties).  ADLI’s experienced divorce attorneys make every effort to investigate and discover evidence to conduct a proper tracing of assets and debts for the determination of separate and community property.  The firm’s family law attorneys use their experience to negotiate settlements that are creative and solution-based so that our clients are able to keep their assets and minimize attorney’s fees.  If settlement is not possible, our experienced attorneys will advocate for your interests at trial.

Post Judgment Modification of Custody and Support

Child legal and physical custody and child support are modifiable even after judgment.  Often what worked when the children were little does not work when they are older.  ADLI’s experienced child custody attorneys will help you evaluate your existing orders and advise you on how to modify them to fit your current needs.

Uncontested (by agreement) divorces

Cases involving marital dissolution, child custody, child support, spousal support, and division of property all have to be filed in court.  For many parties, this will be their first experience having any court case.  ADLI’s caring and supportive family attorneys will work with you and the other party to find a settlement and avoid wasting time and money fighting in court.  We believe that it is always better to have a say in decisions that affect your family.  That’s why we help you negotiate agreements and avoid expensive court battles.
